The second Phase under the Rural Economy Advancement Programme has commenced and having gathered data for 56 selected villages across the country in September 2010, the second round of data collection in the remaining 44 villages is underway. In the first round the teams comprised fully of trained enumerator graduates while in the second round the enumerators are joined by a few interested officers from other sectors and GNHC. The data collection is scheduled to end by December, 2010. Parallel to this, work on the coding and data entry for analysis is in progress.
The overall objective of this component of the targeted poverty reduction programme is to identify interventions which will enable the poor to secure sustainable livelihoods, therefore contributing to an accelerated reduction of poverty during the period of the 10th FYP.
