MDG Needs Assessment and Costing Exercise

A week-long consolidation workshop for the MDG Needs Assessment and Costing Exercise was successfully conducted in Paro on 9-13 October, 2006 during which more than 60 members of the four Thematic Task Forces and representatives from international agencies identified interventions and consolidated for costing to estimate how much resources Bhutan would need to achieve the MDGs by 2015. Revised 9th plan outlay

The Planning Commission Secretariat has informed the Dzongkhags on their revised 9th plan outlay. The revised 9th plan outlay would be the total of the original 9th plan outlay plus the outlay of the non plan activities that have been approved by the Planning Commission till August 2006.Further as per Government directives, all ministries, autonomous bodies and dzongkhags are required to complete all their 9th plan activities by December 2007. Resource mobilization

As per Government order conveyed by the Hon’ble Finance Minister, the resource mobilization for the 10th plan has to be initiated urgently, hence, the central ministries, autonomous agencies and the Dzongkhags have been advised to complete their 10th plan preparatory works and submit their plan proposal at the earliest to the PCS. 9th Plan period by extended by one year

The Royal Government has decided to extend the 9th Plan period by one year, and accordingly the 10th plan will start in July 2008.However the extended year is to be used for completing the 9th plan works and thus to avoid spillovers to the 10th plan.
