Royal Government of Bhutan and Government of Japan represented by JICA Bhutan Office signed Grand Aid Agreement on ‘The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS)’

The Offtg. Secretary of the GNH Commission, Mr. Rinchen Wangdi and Chief Representative of  JICA Bhutan Office, Mr.Koji Yamada, signed the Grand Aid Agreement for ‘The project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS)’ approximately amounting to Nu. 110,000,000 (One Hundred Ten Million only) on 3rd July 2018.

Japan Development Scholarship is to develop human resources in various fields for the development of Bhutan Masters and Doctoral programme in Japanese Universities.  The project will be implemented by the Royal Civil Service Commission.  In total, the Government of Japan will offer 40 postgraduate slots in various fields of which 36 will be Masters Degree and 4 slots for PhD in Economics over the project period of 4 years from 2019 till 2022. In 2019, 10 postgraduate slots in various fields of which 9 will be Master Degree and 1 slot for PHD in Economics and the candidates are expected to be enrolled in September, 2019 is committed through signing Grant Agreement.

The above mentioned – program will provide a good opportunity for Bhutanese professionals to learn at the best Japanese Universities. Further, it will also provide a good opportunity for Bhutanese to experience the Japanese rich and diverse culture and in long run will further strengthen the good relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
