Bhutan today virtually presented its second Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2021. The VNR was prepared through a ‘whole of society’ approach with contributions from all relevant stakeholders. The Secretary of the Gross National Happiness Commission presented the review report on behalf of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The Secretary briefly highlighted the overall implementation of the SDGs, how COVID-19 pandemic has affected the progress and some key measures taken by Bhutan to overcome challenges.
During Question and Answer session, delegates from Austria, Bangladesh and the UK asked a question each, related to Renewable Energy, Graduation from LDC category and Environment respectively.
The Bhutanese delegations was led by Foreign Minister who also made an opening remarks. Representatives from the Parliament, officials from GNHC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MoAF, MoH, MoEA, NEC and NSB attended the virtual meeting.
