The Director of the GNH Commission, Mr. Rinchen Wangdi and Mr, Kozo Watanabe, Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan Office signed the Record of Discussion for the project “Promotion and Utilization of Geospatial Information through Development of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI)” on 3rd January 2020. The signing was witnessed by Honorable Secretary of National Land Commission Secretariat Dasho Pema Chewang.
The main objective of the project is “to share reliable and precise geospatial information with relevant organization including private sectors through establishing National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).” NSDI is the technology, policies, standards, and human resources necessary to acquire, process, store, distribute, and improve utilization of geospatial data.
There are two broad outputs of the project:
- Capacity development for the operation planning and implementation for the strategic utilization and promoting of NSDI, and
- Capacity development for making, updating, management and utilization of digital topographic maps.
